Personnel

Peter Arnold was a beef farmer for 12 years in New South Wales before leaving the land and pursuing other business ventures. In 1999 he helped set up the first Victorian Farmers Market at Koonwarra in South Gippsland. This market was voted one of the top 10 markets in the country in 2002.

Since then Peter has started the company Regional Farmers Markets which manages 12 regional and metropolitan markets around Victoria. There is a staff of 3 trained market managers as well as full time consultants who assist with the expansion and general direction of the company.

Peter has always had a connection to the land and farmers in general. He fully understands the stresses of life in rural Australia and sees Farmers Markets as a way of creating another income stream for many rural families and communities.

Peter lives in Meeniyan, South Gippsland and RFM is based here in the lush green hills of that region. His passion is to reconnect growers to consumers and to enliven rural and regional communities through their love of good food and wine. To assist people to put energy back into the food they eat and respect the people who spend so much of their time growing the food that is often taken for granted.

Adrian Ward has worked for RFM in administrative support and market management roles for several years.

Adrian is passionate about supporting others to learn about practical and profitable ways that they can contribute to a better future for all of us, especially in the area of high quality food production.

Adrian lives in South Gippsland with his young family. He originally comes from Queensland and is an avid Lions supporter.

Simone Gordon, the market manager at the Daylesford market.

Simone Gordon is a very accomplished event organizer. She has organized the Chocolate Rush festival in Melbourne for the past 3 years. She is in constant demand for her organizing abilities and has a reputation in the events industry and is a great person to work with and she gets things done! She lives in Redesdale and was as a driving force in organizing relief for those affected by the February fires last year. These fires luckily only singed her eyebrows.

She has managed the Daylesford market for the past 3 years and hopefully for a lot longer! She has created a very vibrant market in Daylesford and she is much loved by both stallholders and market visitors alike. She also has a wicked sense of humour! If you meet her be on your guard!

Leigh Collins has been with RFM for the last 3 years, currently living in South Gippsland. In his working life he has been a secondary school teacher, adult education provider, educational officer with an environmental foundation, as well as having personal involvement with a local landcare group for a number of years. He is keen to promote healthy lifestyle options to the community and sees farmers' markets as an integral part of achieving this.
